Management of Power Systems

Power system is a set of equipment, devices, and interconnecting lines that are used to produce, transmit and distribute electric energy. The main sources of power generation are various forms of mechanical energy: heat engines, hydroelectric power, and nuclear fission. The efficiency of thermal power generation can be increased if the waste heat generated is captured using a heat recovery steam generator.

Power system can also include control systems, as well as auxiliary equipment used to regulate voltage levels within the system.

A wide variety of components such as transformers, circuit breakers and generators are used to conduct electricity safely, efficiently and economically.

An electrical grid is an interconnected network for delivering electricity from suppliers to consumers. In simple terms, it consists of three parts:

Electric utilities are responsible for delivering electricity to the end users. This involves three distinct areas: generation; transmission; distribution.

Power System is the collection of source, transmission, transformation and distribution facilities which are used to supply a load with electricity. The main objective of power system is to ensure continuous supply of electrical energy with required quality at reasonable cost for supporting the economic development.

Power systems are managed in such a way that:

a) All consumers get adequate supply of electricity at all times.

b) Electrical energy is supplied at such frequency and voltage as desired by the consumers.

c) Quality of supply is adequate for the intended purpose.

d) Supply of electricity is cost effective.

e) Systems operates safely without causing damage to persons or property.

Power Management is a very important process for the successful functioning of any industry. This refers to the ability of an organization to properly allocate resources and effectively manage the work of employees. Each company, regardless of its size and scope, requires a clear and well-defined management system.

Management System is a set of rules for effective interaction in the organization. These rules are based on standards that are followed by all members of the staff. They include:

1) The provisions on the goals, tasks and objectives that must be achieved by each employee;

2) The provisions governing the distribution and use of resources;

3) The provisions governing the use of machinery, equipment, tools and other production facilities;

4) The provisions governing information processing;

5) Provisions on administrative issues;

6) Provisions on production safety and security;

7) Provisions on conducting official meetings;

8) Provisions on evaluating performance level, errors and accidents during production.
