How to install transition between the floor surfaces?

A perfect house means seamless floors from room to room. There is a continuous flow of hardwood from room to room. But, this perfection is not achieved in remodeled homes as there is a transition from one flooring type to another in each room. Heating floors by Heavenly heat works great in guiding you for the transition between the floor surfaces. Whether we are going for remodeling or installing a new floor heating, understanding the process of transition is must for a proper floor assembly in the house. Here are the tips:

1)    Meet industry standards: Professionals always try to meet the industry standards while installing the floors. The design of the house should bear the weight of the different types of floor. Materials like vinyl and carpets are light weighted, therefore, can be installed on various types of floors. Wood tiles require rigidity and strength on the floor of the house to carry their weight.

2)    Choose tiles as per design and space: The design and space of the house are the prime factors that decide the flooring material used. For example, a stiff floor can have marble flooring. The transition from hardwood to tiles in different rooms must be according to the style of the house.

3)    Calculate the deflection rate: Deflection rating is a measurement of flex a floor surface can withstand. Professionals calculate this value before installing the floors inside the house. Heavy floor installations should have a deflection rate of L/720 or more.

4)    The thickness of the tiles: Installation of tiles next to hardwood floor doesn’t mean simply putting up the tile on the top of a wood subfloor. Tile thickness is majorly considered before the installation for better floor preparation.  You can add a second layer of plywood to increase the thickness and stability of the floor.

5)    Use transition strips: To ensure the seamless transition between hardwood and tile floors, use transition strips. Transition strips are painted to mimic the floor. Transition strips are widely used when one wants to switch between two flooring systems in different rooms. This installation should be done effectively and safely. Heating floors by heavenly heat are ideal for floor heating systems used widely.

6)    Check your floor system: Not all flooring systems are ideal for heated floors. Stability and durability of the floor system are very important to check the heated floors. A seamless transition is a must throughout the transition process otherwise, this can result in damage to the property of the house.

7)    Choose visible transitions: Sometimes, homeowners prefer invisible transition, but visible transitions are a safer bet in anticipating the change in floor height. Now look alike transitions are also available in the market.
